This policy explains what information is collected when you visit richient.com, why it is collected, and what choices you have. Richient (“we”, “us”, “our”) publishes this site. It applies to richient.com only, not to any site we link to.
The short version: Richient is a static website. There are no accounts, no comment forms, no newsletter and no shopping cart, so there is nothing for us to store about you. The calculators do have fields to fill in, but what you type stays on your own device and is never sent to us. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not pass it to third parties for their own marketing.
Information you give us
Nothing reaches us. There is no login, no comments section, no mailing list and no payment facility.
The calculators are the only part of the site with fields to fill in, and they submit nothing: there is no server involved, the arithmetic happens in your browser, and the figures you enter stay on your device. We never receive them and have no way to see them. Because of that, we would suggest treating them as you would a note on your phone — useful, private to that device, and not somewhere to record an account number or anything else identifying, none of which any calculator here asks for.
If you contact us by email, we will hold that message and your email address for as long as it takes to deal with your query, and we will not add you to any list or pass your address to anyone else.
Information collected automatically
Like every website, richient.com runs on a server, and that server keeps a record of the requests it receives. This is the only routine collection that happens here.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. As our hosting and content delivery provider, Cloudflare processes each request in order to serve the page to you, and its logs may include:
- your IP address
- the date and time of the request
- the page or file requested
- your browser type and operating system, from the user agent string your browser sends
- the referring page, if you arrived by following a link
- general location at country or region level, derived from the IP address
This information is used to deliver the site, to keep it working, and to protect it from abuse such as denial-of-service attacks, bot traffic and attempted intrusion. We do not use it to build a profile of you, we do not attempt to identify individual visitors from it, and we do not combine it with anything else.
These logs are held by Cloudflare under its own retention schedule and are accessible to us only in aggregate form through Cloudflare’s dashboard. Cloudflare acts as a data processor for this traffic. Its own privacy commitments are set out at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Analytics
We do not run any analytics package on this site. There is no Google Analytics tag, no third-party measurement script and no tracking pixel of any kind.
What we know about traffic comes from two sources, neither of which identifies you. The first is the aggregate request counts described above. The second is Google Search Console, which reports how the site performs in Google Search — which queries showed a page, how many people clicked — as totals only. Search Console runs no code on this site and sets no cookies in your browser; it reports on Google’s own record of its search results.
Cookies
Richient does not set any cookies of its own. Nothing is stored in your browser to recognise you, to profile you, or to follow you from one site to another.
One thing is stored, and it is worth being precise about it. When you use any of the calculators, the figures you type are saved in your own browser so the page still holds them when you return. That uses local storage rather than a cookie, and the distinction that matters is not the technology but the direction: a tracking cookie exists so that a server can recognise you, whereas this exists so that your device can hand your own figures back to you. It is never transmitted, so it cannot identify you to us or to anyone else — we have no way of reading it. Each calculator has a reset control that clears its own saved figures, and clearing your browser’s site data for richient.com removes all of them.
It stays until you remove it. Clearing your browsing data removes it, as does the “start again” button on each calculator, and using a private window means it is discarded when you close the window. Note that it is stored per browser and per device, so figures entered on a phone will not appear on a laptop.
Two exceptions are worth naming, because they are not ours to remove:
- Security cookies. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary cookie, such as
__cf_bm, to tell automated traffic apart from human visitors and to protect the site. It is used for security, it is short-lived, and it does not track you across other websites. - Advertising cookies. If and when advertising is switched on, the advertising network may set cookies. See the next section.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Because the site sets none of its own, blocking them will not stop any part of richient.com working.
Advertising
Advertising is not currently enabled on richient.com. No advertising code runs on this site at present, and nothing is requested from any advertising network while that remains the case. The following describes what will apply if and when we do enable advertising through Google AdSense, and is set out here so that the position is clear in advance.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or to other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices.
Where advertising is served, the advertising network is a separate controller of the data it collects through its own cookies. We do not receive that data, and we do not give the network any information about you beyond the fact that an ad was requested on a page of this site. Google’s handling of it is described in its policy on how it uses information from sites that use its services.
Links to other websites
Articles on Richient link to other sites, and photograph credits link to the photographer’s profile on the site the image came from. Following one of those links takes you somewhere we do not control. This policy stops at the edge of richient.com, and we are not responsible for the content or the privacy practices of any site we link to. Read their policies before giving them information.
Not financial advice
This section used to carry the full statement; it now lives on its own page. Richient publishes general information, not financial advice — the disclaimer sets out what that means, what the calculators do and do not model, and where the limits are.
Children
This site is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information about you we hold, to request a copy of it, to have it corrected or erased, or to object to how it is used. Because we hold no database of visitors and collect nothing beyond the server logs described above, in practice there is usually nothing for us to return, correct or delete.
If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, our legal basis for processing request data is our legitimate interest in delivering, securing and maintaining the site. If you are a California resident, we confirm that we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA, and we have not done so in the past twelve months.

Data retention
We hold no visitor database, so there is nothing on our side to retain. Server and security logs are held by Cloudflare under its own retention periods, which are measured in days for raw request data. Email you send us is kept only as long as it takes to answer. Anything a calculator saved is held on your device rather than ours, for as long as you leave it there.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes — most likely when advertising is enabled. When we do, the “last updated” date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will be reflected here rather than announced individually, so it is worth re-reading this page occasionally.
